Morning!

Wanted to share a few customer quilts with you today!

The first is a Charlotte Angotti project from one of her workshops that my customer attended!  It's difficult to see from the pictures, but the fabrics have a beach theme!

We chose a swirling design to compliment the linear piecing!  She was very happy with the finished quilt and was equally excited that this one is "hers"!!!

Next up are two quilts by the same customer!  The first is a quilt with a basic design but she chose a quilting motif that gives it a nice pop!  See if you can recognize the design!  I will say that the design was a challenge but when I finally got the hang of how to do it, all was well!!!

Design is called Dogwood Blossoms

Her second quilt is a Christmas theme quilt so we chose a design called Curling Poinsettias.

The backing is flannel!

She was happy with both quilts and she too was excited that these were for her!!!

Quilters are a very generous group because seldom do we do anything for ourselves!!!  The joy of making the quilts is in the giving!

Until next time, stay safe!

Good morning!

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer!  Hard to believe it's almost over!

I've steadily been working on my quilt queue and have two I've recently finished and wanted to share...

This quilt has a different center and border design AND has a flange.  In the past I have pinned back the flange but I decided to baste it back this time and like it much better (and safer too since pins can get in the way and break a needle!)

The customer was very happy with the way it turned out which always makes me a happy camper!!

The next one is a quilt my sister-in-law Debbie York designed and made.  The hexagons are English paper pieced and hand appliquéd to the background blocks.  My mother-in-law, Bobbie Sample, made many of the hexagon blocks for this project.  Debbie used batiks for the top which gave the hex's a more "modern" feel.  Deciding how to quilt this was a challenge, but I finally decided to also quilt it with a more "modern" style.  We both were happy with the results!

Each corner had a hexagon, so I decided to run the border quilting design "under" the hex.  Needless to say, this required a lot of stopping and starting!  I used two different "flower" designs for the hex's that I alternated on each block of a row.

At first, I kept seeing the blue triangles and center square as an "anvil" block and was stumped as to how I should quilt it!  When I finally changed my focus and saw the hexagon area as a "snowball" block and the blue squares as sashing cornerstones, the design came together!!  Perspective is a peculiar thing!!

Notice how straight Deb's "lines" are!!  She does a GREAT job of piecing!

Thanks for viewing and hope you have a great week!

Until next time,
Leah
